Mel
Cabang was born on February 17, 1942 in Hamakua, Hawaii. He soon
moved to the island of Oahu and was raised in Hawaii Kai.
Mel Cabang has been working as a successful comedian for nearly 32 years.
Yes that’s from 1970 to now!
He started out at the old Ranch House as a Guitar singer... But because of his constant sore throats,
Mel started talking more and telling jokes. He found the response was much greater!
While working in Showrooms and Nite Clubs, he did several stints with Magnum
PI and Hawaii 50. He then started to get offers for TV advertisements.
Mel Produces and writes almost all of his ads that you see on TV.
Here are a few of his favorites:
Carpetman: Dressed up with a carpet suit.
Condom man: Dressed up with condoms in his coat to promote AIDS awareness.
Diners: Hilarious TV campaign for fast food Chain.
Taco Hut: Short but sweet run for fast food.
Recycling: Doing his part for the State of Hawaii's recycling efforts.
Caesars Cleaners: Bolohead Cabang and now 'Singing Caesar'.
Dude ‘n Dawg: TV infomercial conceived by Mel (2 dudes visiting merchants with comedic antics)
Good Guys Music Store
Walter’s Karaoke
And many many more Political and TV Commercial Campaigns.
Mel has done literally hundreds of “Private
Shows” which includes 'no charge' public service events for
the community and countless events throughout Hawaii and on the
Mainland.

governments insane asylum for a short time but is now back to
Rob from the Rich and give more comedy back to the poor! “When
I got back I didn’t know I was going to be so much in
demand!”. Luckily for me key people picked me up and elevated
me to a higher level of notoriousness. (is there such a word?)
